Multi-channel fulfillment starts with a single inventory pool. One 3PL receives your total inbound inventory, then splits and preps it for each channel: Amazon FBA, Walmart WFS, direct-to-consumer, and wholesale.
The risk of multi-channel is overselling — committing the same inventory to multiple channels without a real-time sync. Use a multi-channel inventory software (Linnworks, Skubana, ChannelAdvisor) to keep stock levels accurate across all channels.
Prep requirements differ by channel, so work with your 3PL to set up separate workflows for each destination. Amazon FBA and Walmart WFS cannot share the same prep line without platform-specific errors.
Review channel performance quarterly to rebalance inventory allocation. A channel that is slow in Q1 may be your top performer in Q4 — static allocation decisions made once a year create missed opportunities.
