Amazon FBA Label Placement Requirements

Incorrect label placement is one of the top causes of FBA receiving errors. Here is exactly where labels go.

FNSKU labels must cover or replace any existing barcode on the item. If the manufacturer barcode is visible and scannable, Amazon may scan it instead of the FNSKU — creating a co-mingling error.

Labels should be placed on a flat, accessible surface — not on a curved edge, under a flap, or inside packaging. The label must lie flat and be scannable at receiving without any manipulation of the item.

For multi-pack or bundle items, the FNSKU label goes on the outside of the bundle packaging — not on individual units inside. Individual units inside a bundle should have their own manufacturer barcodes covered.

Carton labels go on the outside of each box and must include the shipment ID, box number, and carrier information. The label should be on a flat side of the box, not on a seam or flap.
