FBA Prep for Seasonal Inventory Surges

Seasonal products require different prep planning. Here is how to manage volume spikes without disrupting your prep operation.

Seasonal products need early inventory positioning. For Q4 holiday products, Amazon FBA deadlines for peak receiving fall in October and early November. Miss those windows and your inventory may not be available for Black Friday.

Give your prep center 30-day advance notice of seasonal volume. If you normally send 500 units per week and plan to send 3,000 units in October, the 3PL needs to staff and schedule receiving capacity in advance.

Run a smaller test batch before committing full seasonal inventory to prep. A 100-unit test batch confirms the prep spec is correct and the 3PL understands the requirements before the high-stakes full run.

Have a contingency plan for prep delays. If your 3PL falls behind on seasonal volume, know which units are most critical to prioritize — typically your highest-velocity ASINs and the items with the tightest Amazon receiving windows.
