Amazon FBA Prep for Consumer Electronics: Full Guide

Consumer electronics have specific FBA prep requirements. Here is what to know before sending tech products to a prep center.

Consumer electronics require static-safe packaging — anti-static bags or anti-static bubble wrap — for any components sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Shipping electronics in standard polyethylene bags or standard bubble wrap creates return risk.

Screen protection is critical for devices with displays. Screens should be covered with a protective film or wrapped to prevent scratching during warehouse handling and transit. Amazon receiving staff note visible screen damage during inspection.

Battery regulations add complexity for electronics prep. Lithium battery products require hazmat documentation and may have FBA quantity limits per shipment. Check your specific product's hazmat classification before prepping.

FNSKU placement on electronics must be on the outer packaging — not on the device itself if the device can be returned and reused. Applying labels to devices that are later returned creates a label-removal problem that reduces resale value.
