Repackaging covers a wide range of work: fixing compliance issues before Amazon receives inventory, rebundling products for retail, relabeling for a new market, or completely re-boxing goods for a different channel.
The most common trigger is a compliance failure discovered after goods land in the warehouse. Incorrect labels, missing barcodes, or packaging that does not meet channel requirements need to be corrected before outbound.
Strategic repackaging is more interesting. Brands use it to enter new markets — relabeling US inventory for UK, Canada, or EU markets, or rebundling direct-to-consumer products into retail-ready formats for wholesale.
When scoping repackaging with a 3PL, provide the current product state, the target state, and the full quantity. Clear before-and-after specs prevent misunderstandings that create rework costs.
