TikTok Shop offers two fulfillment options: seller-fulfilled and TikTok-fulfilled. Seller-fulfilled means you ship orders yourself or through a 3PL. TikTok-fulfilled works similarly to FBA — you send inventory to TikTok's warehouse and they handle orders.
The prep requirements for TikTok-fulfilled inventory differ from Amazon FBA. TikTok uses its own barcode system, and packaging requirements are evolving as the program scales.
For most sellers, using a 3PL that ships TikTok orders as seller-fulfilled is the current best practice. It gives you more control over timing, packaging presentation, and returns handling while TikTok's fulfillment program matures.
Multi-channel sellers running both Amazon and TikTok Shop can often fulfill TikTok orders from the same 3PL inventory pool that handles FBA prep — just with different outbound workflows for each channel.
